A special thank you to the 1,000 people who attended our 5K on May 6! My dad's birthday celebration was a big success. Unfortunately, the skies decided to open at the very end of the event - just in time to give out the awards. Please go to http://www.r2rresults.com/preset_results/race.php?rid=700&ss=0
to see if you placed. If you did, please contact me at alicia@kidskickincancer.org so that we can mail you your medal! In addition, we have t-shirts available to those who couldn't make it and some extras for those who would like one who didn't get one that evening. Please e-mail me if you'd like a shirt.
Pictures will be posted soon along with the thank you to all of our sponsors. In the meantime, feel free to go to www.budkeeganimages.com to check out any pictures you may be interested in ordering. I'll be graduating next week so as soon as I am finished with graduation and my brother is done with finals, we'll get caught up.
Next event for any golfers is our 3rd annual Golf Outing on August 6 at Delaware National. Even if you are only interested in coming for dinner and the silent auction - we'd love to see you!
Love, Alicia
March, 2009
Thank you all so much for the continuous support so many people have given to us since my dad died in 2006. 2009 has started off as a very busy one. Brandon continues to play soccer on a regular basis and I am getting ready for college in the fall (my mom & Brandon say the house will be much quieter without me, but I know they'll miss me). Brandon is in the midst of learning to drive at Sallies - pretty funny if you ask me - and I just finished swim season with Padua (3rd in the state!!). Most importantly, during senior year at Padua, our Learning Through Service Project closes out by doing dedicated service over the course of the year to one chosen agency. I have been doing my service at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. I love going and it has been a life changing experience for me. I have been able to see different cancer patients and have met many that will change my life. Brandon and I are currently getting ready for the upcoming 5K and are very excited about it because it happens to be on the day our dad's 40th birthday would have been. Our gift to him is appropriate - doing a good deed for others in his special memory!
Many people see my mom, my brother and I living our lives and they are unsure about how we continue to make things work. To share a little secret - sometimes things don't just work but our strong family connection with each other, our extended family & friends, and some good therapy sessions have helped. Life does go on - in a different way - and we just figure it out one day at a time knowing that our guardian angel is looking out for us.
Please continue to pray for those who get diagnosed by cancer and their families. We hope to see you on May 6th!
Love, Alicia
